What can I say about Bianca and Daniel’s engagement shoot besides the fact I am so excited for their upcoming wedding day? Bianca and Daniel are one of those wonderful couples who are undoubtedly in love. During our shoot, any small break saw them looking at each other sharing secret jokes and making each other smile. A simple suggestion of ‘maybe give each other a kiss’ lead into a minute of making out. They make my job too easy!!
Bianca also suggested this beautiful location and the idea of sharing a picnic and cake (the cake that they had made for their engagement a few weeks prior to this shoot). Their wedding is coming around quickly so I look forward to sharing photos of it soon.
On Saturday I photographed Kristy and Tom’s wedding. A 15 year relationship (having started dating in grade 8). A Toowoomba backyard marquee wedding. A fun couple. All perfect ingredients for an amazing day in the ranges. This is just a preview. Expect to see the full wedding in the coming few weeks.
So I am slowly going through weddings from the past year and am in the middle of editing the beautiful wedding of Ben and Tamara. I love this frame. I loved shooting their wedding. You know it is going to be an exciting shoot when the couple request ‘something different’ to the normal wedding locations. On chatting about the style they were after I found this location to shoot some quick portraits. This is just a teaser. More photos to come from their day in the next few days.
Steve and Shanna married in December at the Noosa North Shore Retreat. I was commissioned to shoot their wedding for Dreamlife and as soon as I arrived on the day I didn’t want to leave. The Noosa North Shore Retreat is one of those venues that makes me instantly feel in holiday mode and the day was made even more relaxing as Steve and Shanna had decided to host every part of their wedding at the retreat, from the getting ready through to the reception. Not only is it easier and less stressful for the couple, bridal party and photographer, but it also means their guests can relax as soon as they get to the venue without worrying about moving cars or between locations.
In November last year I was asked to photograph the commitment ceremony of an old friend, Andy and his beautiful partner Matt. Eve’s on the River played host to the couple’s celebrations with the ceremony being held out front of the restaurant overlooking the Brisbane River. After the ceremony and while the guests relaxed in the restaurant, we wandered the streets of Tenneriffe for a quick portrait session. It was a beautiful day, and while the sunset the party kicked off inside the restaurant. Things became raucous pretty quickly as you can see from these photos. Read More
Paul and Casey were married last month at the Coronation Hall at Somerset Dam Village. From first meeting both Paul and Casey I instantly fell with everything about the couple. Their outlook on their special day, what was important to capture and how they were decorating.
On arriving at Somerset Village for the day and taking a sneak peak at inside the Hall I was immediately made to feel at home (and secretly like I was looking into the scene of perhaps my future wedding venue). Everything was decorated by family and friends, from old wooden chairs stripped back and repainted by Casey’s father, to the relish, a secret recipe made by Casey’s mum only for Christmas. The hall, the decor and even the food (catered by Spoon Fed) perfectly matched and added to the homely feel of one of my favourite weddings all year! Read More
In September I photographed Mai and Vu’s wedding, commissioned by Dreamlife. It was the first time I had photographed an Asian wedding and my first experience of seeing and shooting a Chinese Tea ceremony. It was an extremely long day but one thing that blew me away was the hospitality of their family so much so I felt like I was at one of my own big Greek family gatherings. While working we were continuously offered food and drinks.
Mai looked absolutely stunning in first her traditional red Chinese dress. After the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, Mai then dressed in a Western bridal dress ready for their Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart church. After the portraits the reception and feast were held at the Landmark Restaurant in Sunnybank.
Cassie and Milena are friends of mine that last minute asked me to photograph their wedding. The eve of their 5th year anniversary the couple married at Suzanne’s Hideaway down in the beautiful New South Wales hinterland in Clunes. The girls invited close friends to stay for the whole weekend down at Suzanne’s Hideaway with the rest of the guests staying close by in Bangalow to Byron Bay.
I rarely get emotional at weddings, but this one was different. Since meeting these guys about two and a bit years ago you could see how much love they had for each other, and the day they walked down the aisle together, to finally say to the world that the life they have started to build together was for real, was a beautiful occasion.
